Thermal Dynamics Plasma Cutter
« on: July 04, 2015, 02:39:10 PM »
Been offered a Thermal Dynamics 4Xi plasma cutter for free. It's a 15 - 40 amp output machine but looking at the manual it consumes 33amps at 240v for the 40 amp output. That seems lot of current compared with modern machines that run quite happily on a 16amp supply and if true will mean I don't have a big enough supply to run it flat out in my workshop.
Does anyone have one of these or know why it has such a high current rating?

Basically It sounds like the older transformer type plasma cutter  :( and yes they do need a large power supply  :zap: My old SIP cut 30 needed a 230v 32 amp supply  :( and it wouldn't run on anything less  Saying that they are a bloody good machine and last a life time so if it's free it might be worth having a dedicated supply put in to the workshop for it
People say you only live once ! I say thank F@*K can't afford to do it twice.
