Marking or Layout Blue

How do most people apply Marking or Layout blue to the job they are working on?

I have a broad nib ( maybe half inch wide ) felt tipped pen sold for the purpose by J&L. It has the advantage of being re-fill able.

Dykem layout fluid is available in platic bottles with a brush attached to the lid.

I do also use the blue marker pens but the Dykem fluid is more resistant to being inadvertently rubbed of or scratched. The Dykem also gives you really good clear contrasting scribe marks.....OZ.

Far cleaner and more convenient than layout fluid.

Aerosol spray works very well for a light, even coat.

I've used quick-drying flat black BBQ paint with much success as well.

...and of course the Sharpie for small areas, quick little  marks. Often theres no reason to coat the entire surface.

You probably know, but "Micrometer Blue" does not dry "ever" and it used for fitting/spotting not marking out.

But I agree. A little wift of it speads like two kilometer radius where ever you go. Hell, KGB should have used that instead of radioactive materials to track people.

You've actually caught me out there.

I was hoping for around the same sort of qualities, as it is mainly fitting/spotting I want it for, and my ancient tube of Micro has about run out.

I don't usually mark anything out but go on coordinates..

Same here... plus a couple of smaller markers... rhymes with 'Harpie'.
