Gas jet resizing
« on: February 27, 2015, 07:50:01 AM »
Hi all,

I am looking to get some more heat from my gas burner for  steam engine boiler to increase the head of steam. The original fitting and jet was from Macsteam with a jet with a number 5 printed on the side. I plan to change this with a jet I have salvaged from an old soldering gas torch.

Has anyone any advice on the maximum size jet that is safe to use? The new jet is a pin hole in a thin foil as in the picture, is safe to increase this size with a pin to open up the gas flow or am I risking a blow back or some other failure that could make the system unsafe.

Cheers Mick
