X2 leadscrew replacement
« on: January 04, 2016, 05:31:42 AM »
I am planning to conver to CNC and make my parts except the leadscrew.

THe leadscrew I found locally available is a 10mm diameter with 2mm pitch, is it just okay to replace the stock 15mm leadscrew with these 10mm?

Hi
I assume that this is a ball screw? so will be very little friction.
The 1.5 pitch thread was supposed to be universal metric and imperial.
The 2 mm pitch is much easier to work with and calculate settings
Converted my  X2  to 2 mm pitch threads and find it much easier to use
I see that the latest models have 2 mm pitch lead screws.

Hi

Do you want leadscrews or ballscrews?

You can get ballscrews (cut and machined even) on ebay.

If you want leadscrews... you can get a set here (already machined for the X2) from this guy

As far as going with a smaller screw? Not sure if that is wise.
