Feeds & Speeds Calculators

I'm going though my tool libraries in Fusion 360 CAM (you really have to create one for each material type) and unlike some CAD/CAM programs I've used each tool is tied to a specific feed and speed rather than them being modified by you detailing the material you are cutting. (They can be over-ridden when you define the CAM operation)

So I thought that it would be nice to put some science behind what I enter for my Feeds & Speed rather than 'guess and tweak on breakage'  :bugeye:

Hence looking on line for Feeds & Speeds calculators. G wizard is the 'famous' one but it isn't free. FSWizard is free but perhaps a bit clunky. Are there any others I should be looking at. It needs to operate Metric as well as Imperial, and preferably be on my computer rather than on line.

So what are you using, or is it a wet finger in the air

Sorry mate, can't help I'm still a wet finger in the air man!!

Regards, Matthew.

Try this.

awemawson:
Thanks Tom, but that's the FSWizard that I refer to in my third paragraph

I bit the bullet and bought G-wizard. I've  :zap: broken a couple of tools despite using it (only the expensive carbide ones, so that's OK then ), but on the whole I think I can credit it for keeping my tooling bill somewhere reasonable. I must admit, some of the figures it comes out with seem quite scary on the machine (like - "stand well back, she's gonna blow" scary), but it seems to work.

AIUI, if you buy G-wizard for a certain number of years, you can continue to use it once your paid sub has expired, within certain horsepower limits. e.g. because I bought a 3-year sub, I should be able to continue to use it once it expires, for up to a 6hp machine. I could be wrong on that...
