Broken tool tip clamping screw

(1/3) > >>

vintageandclassicrepairs:
Hi All,
Pictured is a tool holder that has a spacer under the replacable tip
it has  PSSNR 2020-12 engraved on the shank and Roto Tool Castolin +Eutectic on a sticker
There is a clamping screw with internal and external threads that holds the spacer and a smaller torx that holds in the tip
When I went to change the tip the spacer retainer unscrewed and I cannot seperate the inner torx screw
Excess force means I now have broken off half the small torx head
A web search has not revealed much, lock pins for clamp style tools look similar but seem to be one piece :bang:
searching for the number on the tool holder only brings up clamp type holders
Have any of you guys seen this type of tool holder or can you point me in the direction of spares?

John

Is it the same as this http://www.iscar.com/eCatalog/item.aspx?cat=3601120&fnum=747&mapp=IS&app=0&GFSTYP=M .

I don't think it is the same. I have a couple of those and there is no clamping screw, the insert is held against the seat by a  boomerang-shaped lever.

hi John - regret can't help with the tool but I suspect the sticker might be a red-herring. My first AC TIG welder was a Castolin + Eutectic "Castotig", and, although I've never owned one, I think the "Roto Tool" may refer to their range of metal-spraying kit.

Dave is on to something here. I suspect that the tool was supplied as part of the metal spraying kit. The first action is to turn down leaving a controlled degree of roughness for the first layer of deposit to key to. Then it is sprayed up to oversize and turned back to finish.

Anyone want to buy a powder spraying kit - got one somewhere
