Has Anyone Here Heard of 'The Ding Men'??
« on: April 11, 2016, 02:37:02 PM »
Hi there, all,

Many years ago I was told the legend of 'The Ding Men'.  It might have been sub-titled 'Their Reign and De-Mystification!'.

I was trying to recount the story to someone today but the passage of time has left moth-holes in my memory.   :bang:    :bang:

So, does anyone here know about 'The Ding Men'?  If so, can you tell us your version of the legend?

I'll keep my version in reserve for now.    :bugeye:   :bugeye:   :bugeye:
Best regards,

Pete W.

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, you haven't seen the latest design change-note!

Google seems to think that, in the context of this site, it refers to panel beaters.

Makes sense to me, but I haven't heard the name used myself. But a 'ding' usually refers to a small damage to a panel.

Its not the Gong farmers, or gongfermers that you are thinking of is it. They were the Tudor privy emptiers, the "gong" being a name for both the privy, and its contents!
