Bogs will be taking a leave of absence (break).
« on: May 14, 2009, 10:38:40 PM »
To all the members,

One of our steady and most experienced members will be taking a leave of absence (a break). John (aka Bogstandard) has informed me that he will not be active much for awhile. This is NOT because of the board, members or staff but is for a health reasons not related to us. Due to that, he won't be as active... You may see him on reading from time to time and posting responses to threads. No need to flood his inbox with PMs.

He will be back in due time. :borg: Please be patient.   :med:

Eric

Ok Boss. 10-4 over and out.

Bernd

P.S. will point the cuorious to this post.

P.S.S. can we put a "sticky" on it so it stays at the top while he's away? (good idea or not?)

Many thanks Eric.

I let Eric do it to make sure it didn't come across as though it was something someone had done or said.

My ailment is not life threatening (unless boredom can be classed as life threatening), but super uncomfortable when I want to get from A to B or even stand up.

So because of changes to my medication in the very near future (next week), I will be no use to man nor beast for a while. When my abundant skin and bones get accustomed to it, I should be up and running again, but with a few reduced capabilities.

I will still be available to stick my nose in, and maybe answer a few posts, but please excuse me if they become rambling and meaningless.

I do like to stay in contact with people, so an email, PM, or even a skype call ( bandit175 ) will be much appreciated (please make sure it is only when available, you might wake me up while I am asleep at the keyboard otherwise), and as usual, visitors are always welcome, but you will have to take me as you find me, and you will have to pour your own coffee, rather than getting the waiter service you are accustomed to.

No sympathy or well wishing please, it will make me feel like I am on the exit ramp, rather than on the road to recovery.

Just keep smiling and get that humour going.

Bogs

BTW, only 9 to go to another milestone. :nrocks: :nrocks:

And still no damned fluffy bunnies!!!!!

I'm sure they are deciding wheather to go with "metric" or "imperial" fastners.

From what I understand Bogs is a mixture of both with a few BA and Witworth thrown in for good measure.

But I'm sure once they get it all sorted out Bogs will be ticking over like a fine running steam engine, :D

Nice humour gents, kicking a man while he's down and can't defend himself

Rebore, descaling and a bit of bone welding, plus of course the mandatory oil change, should see me good for a few more years yet.

Time for another skive nap.

Like everybody, I will be happy when he is patched up and better than before. I also laughed at the comments. I was left with a question. What is skype call ( bandit175 ) ??

Hi Fred,

I haven't disappeared completely, but taking a rest from the shop as it is a little unsafe for me at the moment. Plus I only really answer things if I am feeling lucid enough.

Just to give you a little update. I had my final medication upgrade yesterday morning. When I awoke in the early hours of this morning, I was relatively pain free, and able to walk upright for the first time since last year, and that is taking me a bit of getting used to. The only side effects I am suffering is that I only have a few seconds notice of falling asleep, so it is a little unsafe for me in the machine shop at the moment. I am hoping that the sleep side effect will wear off as my body gets used to it, and hope to be doing a litle machining in a couple of more weeks. I still have scans and blood tests to go thru, and I hope that what is wrong with me is purely mechanical, and can be fixed with a bit of machining off and screwing together to make me a bit more rigid and stable.

Bandit175 is my Skype name. Just like the name you use on the site, you can use a name on Skype as well. So to contact me, all you have to do is open Skype and search for my name. That will then allow us to talk, and view if you have a webcam, free of charge.
Very few things are free any more Fred, Skype is one of the better ones. A mic headset costing a few bucks will get you online (mine was about 5 bucks), for a few more bucks you can use video in the call as well (about 8 bucks for the camera).

The world then opens itself up in front of you.

John (bandit175)

I thought I would just add a little bit here.

My problems are a long term thing and now they have got my meds under control, I can live with it.

Unfortunately my wife is not too well at the moment, so all that was said above still holds, if I disappear suddenly for any length of time, it is personal issues, not board related ones.

In fact you might find I will be posting a lot more, I will be using my shop and this forum as a release valve.
