Project wrTie: Intro to my mechanical pencil build
« on: November 23, 2016, 08:33:23 PM »
I thought I would introduce my newest project (with my first post), a titanium mechanical pencil:

I use a mechanical pencil everyday and I thought it would be interesting to document a build using video.  I'm hoping it will be an educational video series, I will certainly be learning a lot and I hope others will be able to learn a few things from what I learn.  It will be a full build, from start to finish.  Currently I only have a few sketches for the mechanism.  I'll be designing it in Autodesk's Fusion and I will release the CAD as I go.  Once I get going I'll post the link for the CAD here, and on my blog as well.

I'll try to keep this thread updated as well once I get going.

It took me a lot longer than I was planning to get at this project for a number of reasons (including a fully unplanned dragging of a Schaublin 102 and a 6" surface grinder home), but here is, finally, episode 1:

Episode 2 will be posted much quicker!

Edit:  Here is the direct link as well just in case the video doesn't directly show up in the forum.

Grrrrrrr   Firefox said I needed to update Adobe Flash Player. Did that and now cannot see the Video. BUT if I use I-Explorer, yep I can. Shut down and re-open  F/Fox and still no go. Ah, Well.
Sigh!
Anyway, looks like you have an interesting - fiddly project to keep you and us amused.

Edit: Well here it is about an hour later and on my desktop PC that also uses F/Fox and all is working fine.  Laptop was the previous machine whilst sitting in the recliner rocker. Blankety Blank computers.

I'm not getting the movie, just a big empty space!

If I right click in that empty space I get a window that says 'movie not loaded'.  The same thing happens on Doc's thread.
Best regards,

Pete W.

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, you haven't seen the latest design change-note!

Yup.
Me too Pete. I got the same message on my Laptop but as I said, worked fine on the desktop. Only difference I am aware of is that the Laptop is Win XP, Desktop, Win 7. Both run Fire-Fox of same build AFAIK. (As Far As I Know)
