Model engineering show Alexandra Palace 2017
« on: January 28, 2017, 11:58:30 AM »
As of 01 January of this year, I am officially retired... so had to time for a quick trip to London.  Went to a recital at St Martin in the Fields, saw Les Mis at the Queen's Theater, and spent most of Sunday at the Ally Pally for the exhibition... bought some books, a few bits of tooling, a couple of spare flywheels (and, keeping peace in the family, brought back some Jaffa cakes for my son's girlfriend).

Here are some of the photos:

more to follow...

Trouble is that they keep putting the stand fees up - they don't seem to understand that it's a law of diminishing returns.

What organisers fail to see is that without the trade stands there is no show. It's very nice to see all the models too and without those there also is no show.
People justify going on the back of picking up a bargain and also see ing the items they wish to buy in the flesh.
The overheads of a trade stand must be huge, hotels wages, subsistence allowances, the venue its self, travel costs etc etc.
Many big names no longer attend the shows and it is a shame, however understandable, take to the limit none will attend and that will be a loss to all concerned.

Thanks for the pictures, they are wonderful...I am glad you enjoyed yourself.. when i was a child i could see the Allay Pally tower and lights that flashed on the top of it from my bedroom window...brings back memories been here in the USA for 27 years now.

Anthony.
If you cant fix it, get another hobby.
