Endmill sharpening (flute)
« on: April 24, 2017, 01:23:26 PM »
I am thinking about sharpening some end mills before I swing into full summer mode. I know there was some interest last time and am wondering if there is any interest yet. If there is some interest I would set up a tripod and video the sharpening from start to finish. If not no big deal as there is a short video of my process. I'd like to start next winter with no dull tools.
Anyway I just thought I'd mention it.

Sounds good. I have dull ones from 5mm to about 25 mm MT3 taper endmills. I haven't tried to sharpen any of them yet.

I'm interested.

Ok here is yesterday morning. The camera battery died as I was getting ready to do the first endmill. I did notice it when it shut down so I stopped. I have not gotten back to it but will continue from where I left off.

Nicely done.

In the same context for any UK members who would need to have cutters sharpened ( end )  I would suggest you get in touch with ... g.josey@sky.com

He has just ground up 10 HSS cutters for me this week, ranging fro 1/4" - 3/8" & 6 - 16mm, a superb job done & extremely cost effective, costs being donated to a hospice charity. Its nice to know there are members around who offer this type of service. I do have his permission to post his e-mail address so if you need cutters sharpening please get in touch with him
