Hi there, all,
I was so pleased with this, I just had to show it off!
Not a major project, just a small job I'm doing at present. I bought a 6" length of 150 mm wide ¾" thick aluminium bar (or maybe it was a 150 mm length of 6" wide bar??) and need to get the largest possible disk out of it.
Having carefully marked it out and drilled a few holes, I was faced with the job of removing the four corners. I plan to finish it in the lathe but I didn't want to have too much material to turn off considering that it would be an interrupted cut at quite a large radius.
I eventually managed to drag my ancient Burgess band-saw to a relatively clear space on the bench, gave the blade guides and blade tension a quick tweak and started in.
The photo shows the result - I'm very pleased with it.
(The circle 3/8" inside the outermost one shows the extent of an intended chamfer.)
