Tool Grinder

(1/1)

NormanV:
I decided that I needed a tool grinder and seeing a part-completed Quorn at a reasonable price I bought it. Shortly after buying it I came across Harold Hall's grinding jig design and could see that although it did not have the versatility of the Quorn, I could understand it, and it would be a lot quicker to complete. I managed to sell the Quorn at the same price as I paid for it and got on with HH's jig.
Here it is as it stands right now, I need to make a set of collets and buy the correct grinding wheels.
I don't suppose that the height adjustment for the grinder is essential but it will come in handy on the occasions that I do need it. The grinder can be swung around to present the opposite end to the jig giving me the choice of either of the two wheels that I intend to fit.
I have modified the original design to allow it to take up to 20mm end mills and have replaced some of the larger steel parts with aluminium castings (with copper added to toughen it up).
