Soft Start for Warco VMC motor

I have a VMC which always starts by going from 0 rpm to full revs almost instantaneously. This is accompanied by the whole machine rocking an almost imperceptible amount. If nothing else it makes me jump in surprise the first time I start it in any session.
Can anyone  suggest a mod to make it 'soft start'? Short of installing a VFD. :zap:

Aha. Perhaps the silence on this subject indicates that I might be on a loser!
I'll have to look seriously at a VFD system then.

First thing I did with my 626 was junk the oem motor in favour of a 3 ph and vfd.....

Try using a 3kw dimmer switch. We use them on our boilers (homebrew) but also I have used it to control a vacuum cleaner motor. They are very cheap on ebay . Worth a try

Dimmer switches use a triac or scr and as far as  I know are not suitable for induction type  motors as per the vmc.

I stand to be corrected of course.....
