Baldrocker has a new love interest
« on: November 18, 2009, 07:19:44 PM »
Decided to take a break from learning to use my ML7 and
learn to use a milling machine. $1379 AU from Hare & Forbes + $100
delivery on a tailgate truck + $78 to hire a materials lifter to lift this
300kg of metal onto a temp work bench, sitting and just looking at it
priceless.
BR
PS Cleaning workshop is a 2 day job once a month.

Someones been to the H&F sale

I went along but didn't see anything I could afford. I did get a free sausage sarnie so the day wasn't a complete loss.

BR,

You're still 90 degs out on the perspective, you've got your piccy spot on the equator, getting a crick in me neck trying to see it

You are going to love that machine when you get it all set up and running true. A whole new world opens up.

There will be problems ahead of you, as you learn new ways of doing things. Any major problems, and I am sure the lads on here will get you thru them.

Just enjoy

Thanks guys
Might start posting some project piccies now

tumutbound your so right went intending to buy a 2nd hand  X3 they had for $1500 but the HM came
with extras so seemed like a better deal. Missed out on the sausage sizzle but.

Bogs, the greatest difficulty seems to be getting used to laying on my side and stopping things sliding of the table.

Great reply.

Put your bed next to it, and you can machine in your sleep.

BR,

If you have things sliding off the table, perhaps you should be re assessing your clamping methods.  :D

If it works, take it apart and find out why!

Thats what most of my machining looks like as if I'd done it in my sleep
Sorry.

Nice bit of machinery!

There is a 'Machinery House' in Auckland which I should take a look at next time I am up there,  I do not know is they are the same company as Hare and Forbes but the website looks the same.

Nice mill.  Bet a precision plumb bob is cheaper than a precision level for setting up the machine.

News just in.  A 6 inch R/T, dust collector and some endmills broke out of Hare & Forbes and made a sprint to a white 99 Ford ute.  I was the very happy get away driver.

Ah yes the H&F sale.  I couldnt help myself..... your honour (insert missus name here) honest.
From an early age my father taught me to wear welding gloves . "Its not to protect your hands son, its to put out the fire when u set yourself alight".

Forget about the price of gold and oil, its the price of beer that matters.

Heck, I was getting quite excited there until you said the 99 Ford ute was white (mine is red). :coffee:
