Boring tool holder
« on: November 29, 2009, 02:02:44 PM »
I have an adjustable boring tool for the mill and with that I got a set of 12 12mm boring bars with round shafts.  These seem to be very good quality and it seems a shame to get so little use from them.  I decided to make a boring tool holder for the lathe.

Used Ali as I have some in the BOX

Some Milling and a bit of Slitting and drilling and tapping later I had one of these.

The main hole was drilled and reamed with the reamer in the collet chuck in the lathe.

Hmmm.....Great idea...might have to pinch that one..I have a set of carbide tipped boring bars for my boring head ( sounds boring that dont it... ) that dont get much use....but using them in the lathe would increase that using your holder design...

Lateral thinking wins yet again....

Thanks Steve

This is not my idea I found this one in a book by George Thomas book.  But it is handy and easy to make.
