Computer Drawing Help
« on: February 11, 2010, 06:22:37 PM »
Not sure where this should be so I decided on this forum.

I am working with Google's Sketch-Up and have a problem in trying to place a horizontal slot in a vertical tube. Does anyone in the collective use this software? If so please HELP.

This is the part that needs the slot, down a bit from the end of the tube.

Yes - you'r right it's sometimes a little strange to get rid of the curved surface !

I did it this way:

1) make your tube
2) make a rectangular bar with the right dimension next to the tube
3) make this bar to a group
4) move the bar "into" the tube the place you want
5) mark ALL
6) select "intersect with model"
7) remove the bar (and now you have some lines at the curved surface of the tube)
8) just erase inside these lines !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but I think THIS is your problem - right ?

You CAN do it if you choose the eraser and hold CTRL while clicking the left mouse button - hold it down and release CTRL

It a little tricky and I think it's an error - but you can work around it this way.

You have to draw lines to "close" the internal of the tube.

Remember my first language is NOT US/UK-english - but I hope you can understand !
