« on: March 10, 2010, 07:54:20 AM »
Hi , I am in need of a 12 tooth 6mm pitch sprocket, I think I may be able to make one, but first I wonder if anyone can give me some advice on "how To" in order to see if my idea is on the right lines.
Thanks

If it's 12 teeth and 6mm pitch it can only be one diameter.
It will have a pitch diameter of 0.915" and an OD of 1.064"

Hi, I think the diamiter will be set by the number of teeth and the pitch ie 12X6mm = 72mm circumference, this would be the line to drill the 12 4mm (the dia of the chain rollers) 6mm apart (on an oversized disc) these holes would then be opened outward to form the teeth - I think (hope)!!

I'd make one out of a piece of plywood or plastic sheet. Even some thin gage sheet metal might work.

Thanks Guys, things have moved on a little since I posted this question, my supplier has come up with a ready made sproket - which will save me a lot of time,--but I may still make one- just to see if I can!!
