DRO for 6x26
« on: June 25, 2012, 12:23:56 AM »
so, i've just order a DRO with 3 scales from the DRO store,  for my 6x26 'top tech DM15 mill. I need to tell them what size scales i want.  How/where do i measure?
General feeling i get is that in front of the bed is best for the X scale, to not lose Y travel. Any contrary opinions?

any other suggestions?

thanks

Hello,Russ.
I guess I own a similar mill and went with Allendale for my glass scales.
I chose
GS500-120 Slim Glass Scale - 120mm Reading Length
GS500-170 Slim Glass Scale - 170mm Reading Length
GS500-370 Slim Glass Scale - 370mm Reading Length
Ordered matching protective covers as well.

More or less it has been an easy installation, even for a plonker  like me.

I hope the pics help.

Cheers,Ralph

Sure does Ralph.  Looks like you put the z_ on the quill?  I almost always use the knee,  I thought I might put a caliper on the quill eventually.  I've also asked the suppplier if has a recommendation.

OK,  I've ordered 370 for x and z(w),  and 170 for y

next step, taking a drill to my pristine mill....

update: at Scotts (The DRO store) i've changed the X scale to 420, to make installation a little easier.
