Three grades of "stuff".
« on: December 12, 2010, 02:45:15 PM »
I am very slowly moving the contents of one double and one single garage and a couple of small rooms into a 20' shipping container.

Obviously there are decisions to be made along the way..the three grades of "stuff"...

Grade One, no question, it goes in the box.

Grade Two, it will go in box if there is room for it.

Grade Three, it gets thrown on the trailer for the tip.

Decisions, decisions, decisions....

A Gismo ??? If it has a flywheel or spins and is made with small parts. I'll take one! If it makes noise, moves, or requires frequent oiling and dusting it's a better deal yet. It's especially right if its shiny and bright; but if it's dirty and dull it wont mater at all...

I know the feeling! I'm doing the same at the moment although I don't have multiple garages worth to filter.

So far, everything I've picked up seems to be Grade 1.

Its amasing the junk we collect.

On having to make way for a new lathe 6 weeks ago the only place stuff could temporarilly go was outside where no one goes. Found stuff i had been looking for years clearing it all out in to a skip. Some decent expensive electronic stuff scrap, rotted away along with tins with stuff in etc. Well it was only temporary, that was 11 years ago.

Might do same again junk or sell two lathes and a miller.
