Another NEWB
« on: February 01, 2011, 12:46:55 AM »
Hey folks! A steamer trying to learn how to make better results from whats left after the chips!! I have succumbed to the invites from some fellow steamers. I only looked around just a bit and see Benchmark, DeanW and Stilldrillin and of course Bogs and Cedge!!

I have an older Atlas 618 and and waiting on a Taig mill to arrive ...so the dollars will be leaving again real soon as she acquires tooling!! Via my wallet..

In the world of steam I lean heavily towards boats( have 6 or 7 )- so this involves some wood, steam components, foam carving  and r/c. I moving from basic building and using ready-made antique and newer components to shop made.

I am a helpless tinkerer and many friends call me to local "McGyver" - I have never used a mill but see it as a logical progression towards making my own things and to stop bothering friends to help me out when I can't make a certain part ( Thanks David  )....Selling my little used Atlas milling attachment to force me to learn faster on the mill.

Look to the back of the classroom - that's me back there trying to catch up with your other fellows--Back to jotting down notes--I will be looking around for a while

Cheers folks

Hi Greg!
Nice to see you here, at last.  ::)

Most of 'em on here are very friendly..... None of 'em bite....... You'll fit in nicely!

Show us what you do......   :smart:   Ask us what you need to know.

Above all, enjoy!  :D

David.

Still drilling holes... Sometimes, in the right place!

Still modifying bits of metal... Occasionally, making an improvement!

Hiya Greg

Welcome to the collective :borg:

Glad to see you know a few of us already! As David said, show us what you do.

Feel free to ask away. Lot's of knowledge here... but don't be afraid to offer suggestions. Sometimes it takes more than one set of eyes.

Eric
