Sharpening stuff
« on: April 22, 2011, 05:01:25 AM »
An interesting page on sharpening lathe tools.
http://conradhoffman.com/advancedsharp.htm
The idea for touching up endmills and dovetail cutters with the Lansky Sharpening system components is great.
I imagine the same thing could be done with the similar Gatco sharpening system.

On a  related note: I have a little triangular stone made by Lansky, called the Multi Purpose Sharpening Stone, that I use on my lathe tools. It lives in the workshop drawer since "She who must be obeyed" demanded that my Spyderco sharpmaker reside in the kitchen.
At any rate it works very well on lathe tools, assuming the tool isn't damaged or such I almost never need to set up the grinder again after the initial grinding.

Nice find on the site.

Got it added to my favorites. Some nice tooling ideas for keeping tools sharp.
