Another DTI refurb
« on: March 15, 2012, 10:09:12 AM »
Afternoon,

I picked this up today from a car boot sale -

A Mercer DTI in its box with seemingly very little use - I couldnt resist.

It was locked solid though. I dripped some TF2 into the plunger a couple of times this morning but couldnt shift it by hand. I unscrewed the end of the probe and tapped it gently and hey, ho it started to move albeit without returning on its own accord. Ive been slowly working the plunger by all hand for the last 20 minutes and its started to work as it should.

Not as good a bargain as the Federal one - I paid £4.50 for this after knocking him down from £7.

Its perfect for my requirements though, im going to fit this to my tailstock as a depth guage for drilling.

Nick

Very nice buy, Nick!

I really aught to find the time, to visit one or two of my local 'boots.........  :poke:

David.

Still drilling holes... Sometimes, in the right place!

Still modifying bits of metal... Occasionally, making an improvement!
