More generators using brushless D.C. motors
« on: June 19, 2012, 12:44:57 AM »
I just thought if anyone is interested I have two more videos about generators I have made using brushless D.C. motors. The first video is about it exciting the field windings on a car alternator and the second is about using it as a stand alone alternator

i especially like the trimmer engine powered one. I thought  those engines were more like 500-700W though? Obviously they run really fast to get that output though and maybe would either end up with too-high voltage, or alternatively if it were geared down, no output until it is really thrashing.  I guess the power output of the generator is also limited by what it achieved as a motor.

pity those engines are so noisy!
