Making a HPA stirrpump.
« on: December 12, 2012, 04:12:13 PM »
So, well ever since i joined this forum i have struggled with making an airgun.

And one of the major parts of that is to make a HPA stirrpump (bicycle pump) that can produce 3000-4500psi.

And i have been tinkering with single stage pumps and can quite easily reach 1800-2000psi. Buts its not really enought get any performance at all out of anything.
So anyone got an idea for how a 3 stage stirrpump would work?! Why i want it in the stirrpump model is because of portability. =)

It would be interesting to dissasemble a Crosman Benjamin pump, but I understand that it will only reach about 3000psi. Maybe a Hill pump could serve this purpose better.
I found a exploded parts list for the Benjamin pump that could give an idea of how it is made. I got this from Crosman site.
Good luck

yeah i have studied exploded parts diagrams from different manufacturers. But i cant really tell how the air travels through the pump. I need to get me one of those and take it apart i guess.

yeah that looks like a neat little device..  nothing you carry with you in the field though. but it gives you a hint of what its all about compressing into smaller and smaller diameter and so on. =)
