I was going to anneal and then fill with sand but I king of like the filling it with lead I may give that a go. I have lots of tractor lead wheel weights. If this doesn't work  will up the radius to maybe .5 or .625. I just wanted to try and see if I could go down to a .375. The freeze thing as slow as I am it would all be melted by the time I got started bending it.

Doc,just do a google search for sand bending tube or pipe. There are several very informative videos on youtube.

The technique involves keeping the heat mostly on the outer side of the curve being formed.

Link to one vid here, there is loads more through google search.

I've been using it for decades  :bugeye:

Not only for bending pipes without them crushing, but also for fixturing awkwardly shaped bits for machining - just set them in a simple mould box, pour it in, then grip in a vice and machine the part. Melt out in hot water when done - save for reuse

Thanks for the info guys. You need to be careful some of that stuff has cadmium and that stuff isn't to good for you. We use to use some stuff at work like that to hold complex parts for machining. I may order some medical grade stuff (no cadmium) it could come in real handy.
Thanks!

Didn't get any shop time last few days we ended up with another 10 inches of snow. So I have been busy moving snow again. I did grab the camera last night while moving snow.

Ok I did get the tanks at the right height and fuel line attached. I do need to come up with some small hose clamps of some sort. I added a short video the sound is terrible I used the new camera with  the sport case on it so now I know not to put the case on it again.  Anyway I'm going to work on the pipes and a temp coolant tank  to take the place of radiator. Shouldn't be long now I do have some mis things to wrap up but hoping to be able to give it a try next week end. Depending on how the bending and pipe thing goes

PS I did get the new batch of liquid rubber haven't had a chance to give it a try yet. I sure hope the stuff setts up this time.

Bending tubes for exhaust and trying to get them the same length and angle.

Ok have exhaust pipes done for now so on to the plug wires again. I think the first thing I will do is make some wire organizers. The silver soldering went pretty good for the most part. I did solder one with the video camera running. I may end up painting the set that will go onto the engine that I have put paint on.
I also got the new set of liquid rubber stuff that the first batch didn't work (wouldn't set up beyond black goo) I hope this stuff will work. It is suppose to get to the hardness of tie rubber (according to their advertisement) I'll probably try the stuff out this week. I'm hoping the cold temp isn't what caused the first batch to not work because when they delivered it, again it was well below 0 degrees f.

Nice work George.

I have been wanting to order the plans for the Little Demon for awhile now. I went so far as to get a set of gaskets off Steve when he was selling them. I just need to order the plans and have the time to build it. I keep postponing... But reading your build is starting to inspire me to order the plans.

Keep up the good work!

Eric

Thank Eric !

I purchased the plans when Steve first offered them. I do design work and drafting so I know how much work goes into this kind of thing and I couldn't believe the sweet deal he offered so I jumped on it. It has been a fun build but I've been kind of slow at getting things done but I am getting close.

Here is a pic of the first boot I'm uploading the video of me removing the cores and taking it out of the mold. I had trouble getting the cores out the next one I put a little more Vaseline on the cores this time. The rubber did set up pretty nice this time.

Nice work on the boots who did you get the kit off of. Are they as hard as tyre rubber like they said?
If you decide to scrap that one or have some scrap about it would be interestimg to see what happens when in contact with oil / gas.

First out of the mold it's not as hard as a tire but after setting another day I'd say it's close. I got it off ebay I'm happy with the hardness and the stuff has some tinsel strength. The first one getting the cores out I had to use a pliers and I twisted the crap out of the stuff and only suffered a small little tear.
I fixed the little tear when I mixed and did another boot I dabbed a little on an now you can't find the tear.

I redid the mold to add a little collar around where the plug goes into the boot once I get it the way I want I'll create a mold to do 4 at a time.
