Give a whole new meaning to the term "fabricated". :dremel:

Can you imagine somebody working that hard today? And without saftey glasses. Labor was cheap back then too!

Now, that`s real TEAMWORK!

David.
David.

Still drilling holes... Sometimes, in the right place!

Still modifying bits of metal... Occasionally, making an improvement!

They might have been working hard and for a pittance.

But you could guarantee they took great pride in the work they did, and had a bunch of mates who would die for each other.
At knocking off time, all down the pub for a real pint, maybe a quick game of dominoes, and a good laugh amongst mates.

Then home for a panfull of boiled cabbage and pigs trotters.

A feeling of bliss, settling down for the evening, knowing you had done a good job.

With a roof over your head, and a full belly.

I bet they thought they had the best job in the world.

What have you got nowadays?

Money grabbing buggers, who would s**t on the first person who got in their way for a bit of overtime. A 'ding' meal on your knee, a can of crappy chemical beer, and watching the box all night without talking to anyone, except to moan to the wife that there was not enough sugar in the canteen coffee machine at work.

Progress ?????

Boy Bogs you hit the nail on the head with that one.

I'm sure they were they were sore at the end of the day, espcially if you were new on the job.

I bet they were a lot happier too.

Bernd,

I know the first bit is spot on, because that was my father. As a young lad, I was sometimes allowed to go down and meet him at the work gates, and stayed with him on his journey home. I had a bottle of pop and a packet of crisps in the pub, a real treat in those days.

It wasn't much later, when I was in my early teens, that all the old work practices changed, and he turned into a very bitter, unhappy and disillusioned man.

By being brought into a modern production environment, where money was worth more than friendship.
