I've had this project on the go for a few years now, its been very much stop go, any way I was getting close to getting something to try so decided to have a concerted effort of getting it working.
This is it yes I know it look a bit Heath Robinson but it does work.
What we have is a compilation of commercially available parts to make a cutter grinder.
It consist of one of those milling table that you can buy to add to a drill I got mine from bluechip a few years ago.
A myford vertical slide
A cheapo bench grinder
And a set of Stevenson Er32 index blocks
The only thing I made was a holding fixture made from ally jig plate and a toggle clamp.
To use you first have to dress the wheel up so you have a nice square edge on it, you set the cutter so that the cutting edge is square to the base, the cutting angle is set by positioning above the centre of the wheel using the vertical slide, you then advance to the table so that you see sparks wind across to the centre (i'll be fitting a stop to aid this) index the block to locate another cutting edge repeat repeat until you have all the cutting faces nice and sharp, to put on secondary clearance you simple lift the cutter higher up above the wheel centre height.
It took me less than an hour to sharpen this lot up.

I still need to do a bit of fine tuning and to make a fixture so sharpen slitting saw and fit a cup wheel.
But I now have a nice draw full of sharp end mills.
