Hello from Nottinghamshire, UK
« on: February 25, 2014, 05:24:59 PM »
Found this place a while back whilst searching for information for my Harrison L5 lathe. I came accross the excellent post by Mick and that was it, I was hooked!

After reading many articles and visiting almost daily i have come to the conclusion that you're all mad lunatics.... seems like I'll fit in well

Me, well i'm a time served joiner by trade having worked in a machine shop for a few years after an apprenticeship and then progressing to site work including plastic installation (windows, doors, fascias etc) and a while at fitting high quality kitchens. However my true passion is metal. i enjoyed metalwork at school so much I desired to go into engineering like my ole man who was a centre lathe turner. Sadly, timing for employment in the engineering trade wasn't right so I settled for the fact i could actually find a job as a joiner.

Now days i play at engineering, mess with motorbikes, run a web site and generally get up to no good as my wife always reminds me... plus spending far too long trawling ebay for that bargain find

My only gripe in life seems to be that theres never enough time to spend doing what you want  and you lot keep posting up even more ideas that I now need HAVE to investigate further

Whilst I am actually from God's Own County I'm a mile over the border into Nottinghamshire doing missionary work when I'm not making swarf and fettling chain driven vintage motorcars.

Hello Stig, I see your a joiner who works in metal.

That must play havoc trying to keep your plane irons and wood chisels sharp.

Anyway,as a fellow Harrison Lathe owner/sufferer, I welcome you......OZ.

Hi Stig!

Welcome to the Collective.  :borg:

With your background and experience, we should get along very nicely.

Looking forward to seeing your work. Especially, the bikes. :D
