Title: TOOL POST GRINDER HELP
Post by: ieezitin on September 03, 2016, 11:36:30 AM
Hello

I have a Metabo Die grinder, i want to make a tool post grinder out of it or make a fixture for it to be more precise... I have watched U-Tude vids and got allot of ideas but my real question is this; what should i pay attention to when i make my fixture relating to rigidity, ease of use, flexibility etc. Also what quality Grinding stones are recommended.. my first project will be to grind a 3at Collet spindle sleeve for my spindle.

Its going on a Logan 200 and a Atlas 12''..  all ideas are welcome.

Thank you all in advance...  Anthony.

This Idea could certainly be modified to accept your die grinder. Hope it helps.

Cheers

My mounting is a bit rough and ready but it works - illustrated in this thread:

Been wondering of using my QC booring tool holder to moun one of those thin neck die grinders....but alhough they look pretty slender the ones I have seen are still bit chubby.

Probably I would build one to replace tool post (possibly top slide too) to allow good eneough mounting. My feeling is that for accuracy the mount should be pretty good, even when actual cutting forces are not that great.
