Title: Favourite YouTube Channels
Post by: SwarfnStuff on April 13, 2017, 02:30:16 AM
Just wondering what YouTube channels we all watch regarding the making of swarf / chips, depending on where you got eddicated?
Dodn't think this has been discussed previously.
I check out the following;  :coffee:
   This old Tony,

  Joe Pieczynski,

  Xynudu,

Plus others Like, MrPete222 AKA Tubalcane, he however gets a tad long winded but there is a lot of good stuff buried in there.

Amongst many others, Project Binky (you'll have to search for it... I can't link to Youtube from here) is vital viewing...

Oooh, I've got a food one as well; anyone who enjoys a British Indian Restaurant meal will thank me for this one:

Al's Kitchen:

Bad Obsession Motorsport was the Binky channel link I was looking for earlier. They've got a great new video up on how to TIG weld a broken porcelain mug. A must watch!

I have watched videos from most of the links posted, but was totally fascinated by the Binky Project. Thanks AdeV!
Absolutely outstanding fabrication! I was especially fascinated by the Binky because I built up a 1969 Austin Mini Van while I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford in the early 70's during my USAF career. I dropped in a 1275cc Cooper S engine, added spats and fought the good(but hopeless) fight against rust. Got it finished in time to ship it back to the states. Wish I had it now... That van terrorized Clovis, NM for a few years. Sold it while stationed at Mtn. Home AFB in the early 80's.

Project Binky is great. I just wish that they were a bit quicker. I've watched all of their videos and am finding it very frustrating waiting for the next one.
Also SV Seeker is a good one, I've been watching his progress for years.

Binky is great. the reason it's so slow is because it's a private project and has to fit in between all the paying work.

mind you,.........................I wish they'd hurry up, :whip: :whip: :whip:

AvE is my absolute favourite.

It's not just the interest of his projects but he is funny as hell and clearly very intelligent.

I have to admit I dont take too much notice of the presenters of most of the things I watch I just do a search for my interest of the moment and watch in the order they come up. However most of what springs to mind have already been mentioned oxtool, suberban tools, myford boy etc.

Just about everybody that I am subscribed to on youtube has been mentioned, but there is on person who's videos I've enjoyed https://www.youtube.com/user/sunppaa he's a Finn he's more into CNC at the moment, but he has some interesting manual machines. He has recently set himself up as a jobbing machinist and has some interesting videos!

We do seem to be watching or at least checking on the same channels for the most part. Mcostello, Do you get into the workshop and make swarf from time to time? That's a lot of YouTube time if you watch em all. Just kidding mate,  my list of subscribed channels is or was as long until I did a reload and lost em. Some presenters I find waffle on too much for me and I fast forward.
Thanks to all who added their links or thoughts.

Yes, shop time is the most valuable. Left out a few non machinist related. Wife says I am addicted, I tell Her I can quit anytime (as long as the Internet is down.) Getting Her used to the puter, She can't complain if She is busy, or notice new machinery.  :)

I cannot recommend "project binky" enough.  Love the humor, amazed by the skills.

DoubleBoost has some great videos too

I also watch "knife making tuesdays" by Grimsmo Knives

And "man at arms". Yeah... I am a sucker for watching knives and swords being forged.

"alex steele" is another.

The text in quotes are what you should search for in youtube....

Windows Moviemaker (available in XP, not sure about newer versions of Windows) is pretty capable, certainly for the level of video production any of us is likely to do.

Hi All,
Along with the channels mentioned, recently I came across this one

"The old steam powered machine shop" David Richards is the proprietor

videos

For those who like heavy engineering and hard work
Brian Block's channel has plenty to look at and wonder how he keeps going on single handed

A recent find for me and a new favourite for CNC is Edge Precision, a quiet man softly spoken, easy on the ears.
