I almost wish that Edward hadn't posted that link; I had been planning on doing other things last night.  Still, a great project, and well told.

Thanks!

Quite agree. I only wish I was half as good as those chaps, or even a quarter would do...

I think I may have watched the whole series through twice. Not only are they skilled metalworkers they are masters of understated British humour!

As you say a good time waster.  Impressed with his fabrication skills.  Have done a lot in past on cars (autocross minis etc) with CAD (cardboard aided design) but he has taken it to a whole new skill level.  The amount of new panels he replaced and then cut almost as much metal out of as the rust mice had done with the originals.    I would love to be as good as he is with the welder.  I've got 180 amp Butters Mig set, which have had for many years, cannot justify Tig.  Trouble is with eyesight, long and short sight, does help focussing on location being welded

Need next episode.

I am short sighted and wear contact lenses - so my distance vision is great. My accommodation (i.e. ability to focus the eye) is now down to zero.

For general use in the shop or at the computer I use a set of varifocal reading glasses WITH my contact lenses.

The prescription is from 0 at the top to +3 at the bottom which is great in the shop or at the computer.

Now for welding they are no use so I just use a pair of +3 Ready Readers or whatever they are called from th esuper markets for €3 or so.

You also get diopeter lenses that fit into the inside of the mask!

HTH us wrinklies!
