Title: gas burner

HELPIs this right? I have made a ceramic gas burner for a small boiler. I realise I need a smaller jet ( all I had ) would this solve the problem, or is there a problem at all. The flame colour changes from a nice blue to yellow when the ceramic starts to glow red.

I reckon the overall flame size is too big for the size of burner, but the air gas ratio is correct as you are getting the right flame colour. So yes a smaller jet.

Assuming that the yellow flame is not at all smoky (too little air if it is) then it is probably sodium impurities in the burner material giving the colour.

Thanks for the answer,  :ddb: I think that is right, more air, less gas makes no difference. As the yellow only appears when the ceramic glows red. What ever setting is used. In the boiler tube the very end of the flame (all I can see) is blue. So all is well.
