Title: Creating a top coat.
Post by: NeoTech on August 28, 2015, 12:29:49 PM
So i have been trying to aquire som aluminiumoxide or zirconium paint for a while now.
Lets just say..its a effin hassle..

So i went to my mothers, and dug thru her bags of weird as **** for pottery making.
This is what i came up with.

95% Aluminiumoxide in 10 micron mesh
5% Kaolin powder in 10 micron mesh

I did this by weight.
And then i added in sodium silicate at about 3% of the total weight of the dry stuff.
That creates as sticky paste.

I then smeared onto my concrete.

Now.. it would be better if this was more like paint.. But dont know if i can add water into this or if that will break the sodium silicate as a bonding material or not.
