Title: Harrison L6 change gears

Hi guys, have got a L6 lathe i bought it with a set of 60 and 120 tooth threading gears fitted,it cuts imperial threads ok,also a set of 85 and 130 tooth gears came with it would this set of gears cut metric threads? as i have very little no how on threading gear setups cheers.

Graham,I have an L6 with a comprehensive set of back gears including the metric threading train.

I'll have a look in the L6 owners manual later and report back which gears are required to cut the full range of metric threads. I recommend you get hold of a copy of the operators hand book/user manual.

I have one, there is no mention of the 130t and the 85t gears just cant imagine what these change gears are used for. Graham.

I see what you mean. They are probably for generating some obscure special thread additional to those shown in the threading charts. I have seen some odd numbers of teeth on gears that the Plane Iron Shop had for sale on ebay....OZ.
