Sounds like you have made a proper job of it.

It's quiet around here but people are watching... And waiting...  :D

Project Logs / Scratch build a VMC .. any interest

I´ve built a large VMC, in tool steel, any interest ..

ATM the z axis ballscrew is kaput, due to my installer losing the balls ..
In about 4 weeks, I hope to have a new (40 mm?) screw on the z with ac bearings on the mounts, coupler, etc. and be able to do pics.

Industrial specs, 32 mm screws, 220v 1 kw ac servos, csmio 24V io and controller, 1600 mm bed, 600 mm y, 500 mm z movement (600 mm clearance), 35 mm hiwin rails, 2.5 kw industrial 3-phase motor, bt30 spindle and toolchanger, etc.

They look like a box tool.

A tool for turn a fixed diameter on a long rod , by supporting the uncut material in a hole while a fixed (pre adjusted) tool in the slotted part takes the cut

I picked up another Pultra P type at the weekend to restore nice fairly complete and original along with it came a very complete box of collets & accessories but in the box are two items that were tied together that I have no idea what they are, I have been through the manual and can find nothing so probably not Pultra, one is slightly smaller than the other and the allen bolts push a slide, does anyone have any suggestions as to what they are ?

If you haven't come across Watch Wes Work on Youtube, then I heartily recommend his channel. This latest episode :-

is, I think, the best explanation of complex electronic, hydraulic & mechanical systems I've ever seen
A classic candidate for Mad Modder!

Tools / Re: Fitting a Multifix Aa

I'd just put a toolholder in and set it with a square.

I do that all the time, especially with parting and threading tools where it matters to be square on to the job…

[\quote] I know this is a bigger Multifix but clearly shows the holes at the top.

Yes I have taken the top off and they are definitely blind holes , it seems the larger Multifix has through holes but not small ones.
I ended up turning a pointed stud inserting it in hole squaring holder and tapping with a soft hammer and it marked it just enough for me to centre punch and drill , all back together now.

Glad you've got it sorted!
