Yet Another Carbide Parting Tool.......
« on: February 16, 2010, 05:52:41 AM »

After reading Graham C`s posting....   http://madmodder.net/index.php?topic=2537.0

I decided it was time I too had a tipped parting tool....... I ordered the 8mm size, as this was the cheapest!

My new toolpost had arrived with 1 oversize toolholder, which I would never use.......

This had given me an idea.......

Saw off the excess material......

Mill flat & true, with an 8mm keyway. Reduce the width of the tool shank......

Central 4mm dowel & 2off m5 capheads to hold securely.......

Looks ok, I think......

And nicely within the crosslide footprint......

This has taken me several weeks of "only a few minutes at a time" availability, due to the weather......

Hope it works as good as it looks..... When I can get back out there, properly......  ::)

David.

Still drilling holes... Sometimes, in the right place!

Still modifying bits of metal... Occasionally, making an improvement!
