Inverted Parting Tool.

I only turn small widgets, usually, and part off using a blade type 1.5mm wide tool.

I`ve seen the hint/ tip to part off in reverse, but not tried it until yesterday.......

Now I have my miller, I will make a 10mm square holder for the 1/4" tool shank.....  :thumbup:

Yes it works great because the chips or swarf falls out of the cut.

Now for a bit of saftey. Be careful as the chuck can unscrew while cutting backwards like that.

Thats a good idea my lathe will run in reverse and its got a flange mounted chuck I'll have to try it.

Not only parting but any cutting of brass helps if the tool is upside down.

That way the shower of shite goes down into the chip pan and not down your neck only to turn up in bed as sharp slivers.
