Thx for that. Hopefully I can grab hold of the remote and stem the tidy of costume dramas and other tosh tv as Bazzer was a hero of mine along with Ron Haslam and Matt Oxley :)

That would be worth watching, hopefully they will have it online at some point.

I fondly  remember Ron Haslam on the ELF bikes during the 500cc GP days.

Regards,

Steve.

Thanks John! Set to record........

Marshalling, at a Batley Club Meeting, Cadwell.
I can remember Rocket Ron, winning. While still wearing the novice jacket.
I spotted his steering damper, hanging loose. " I thought it was a bit lively!"  :bugeye:

Did anyone watch, "Guy Martin's Passion for Life"?
Having a 1942 R/R Merlin, as a (mostly), stationary engine!  Wow!  :bugeye:

Have to admit it brought a bit of a lump... :-(

I started my 'riding' life on a Raleigh Wisp, progressed to a Puch  MS50 then. Yamaha FS1E.....then the big bikes came...a Yamaha RD200.... Which didn't stay standard too long... Ported barrels, modded pistons and reed valves along with expansion chambers, that was my first foray into road racing, progressed to a Yamaha TDC1A....
I can still vividly remember the Trans- Atlantic  races ...Sheen v Roberts.... Great....
Then there was the 'Meet the stars' at the Brid Spa .....Roger Marshall, Ron Haslam et-al....

I could go....on...

Hi David,

I watched both programmes and enjoyed them both.

No wonder Guy starts the Merlin up in the middle of a field now!

My daughter bought me Guy's autobiography for Xmas. I only tend to read when we're away in our caravan so it's something to look forward to in the Spring.

Somewhere I have a photo of Barry Sheene I took at one of the Trans-Atlantic races at Oulton Park in the late 70s.

Cheers.

BBC swaped the programs around worth waiting for , brought back memmorys Jeff Duke and John at Bands in the fiftys , and the smell of the R40 and the split chesnut fence with straw bales between us and the track .
