Saubona from South-Africa
« on: March 06, 2015, 02:28:27 PM »
My name is Pete, soon to be lawyer from a small town in the middle of South-Africa named after a British Lord, Lord Balfour.  Modding is my daily passion, I live eat and sleep thinking of improving one or another peace of rotten something.

I mainly work in metal, at the moment building supermarkets, houses and the like.  I tend to fabricate everything including the kitchen sink, and not forgetting rebuilding and building nearly all the equipment used in the building projects.

Some other things I tend to tear apart are electronics, furniture, engines, airplanes, cars and lately all manner of yellow earthmoving equipment. This is my most favorite forum as the posts here tend to be very diverse, and that suits me a lot. :D

Small world, thats the one.

It's actually very well located, not too far from the industrial centers like Germiston, Brakpan and Witbank, perfect for the tinkerer.

Can I ask, this forum isn't type specific?  I mean, I can post anything in the way of a mod, something that I made to ease life, anything I goofed up trying to improve it, etc.
Reason for asking, lately I have been rebuilding yellow construction equipment with a mod here and there, would that also be appropriate?

Peter

If you can dream it and built it than it is probably good to be posted on MadModder. As you will see by looking around the different threads the sky is the limit as far as things to build.

It can be a tool, a machine, a means of transport. I am patiently waiting to see what you have to offer.  :D :D

Cheers

I have a few modest talents. Knowing what I'm doing isn't one of them.

I'm using this SURROGATE, my real body is in for service. :)

Don't have a D11 at the moment, did have a similarly sized Terex a couple of years back.
It was a bit of a hassle to get a contractor with a abnormal low-bed to move it, but when you got to the site, it worked beautifully.

Will post a couple of pics soon.

Still have to sort out electrics, it didn't start, fixed that, had a lot of shorts and the engine wasn't very well grounded.  One ear of the starter is broken off, will have to reweld.  This machine will be used in erecting buildings, but I first need to fix it up like new.  The local guys do not do decals to my liking so I need to source a new decal guy, but will probably repaint the large decals.  I like to do everything myself to assure quality.  Afterwards the modding will start, I plan to use it as a mobile scaffold/cherry-picker -brick-carrier, multi purpose do all machine.
