Restored Planer -- Dan Gelbart
« on: March 08, 2015, 11:05:07 AM »
After seeing the Dan Gelbart 1 micron accuracy air bearing lathe and grinder video that Tekfab linked in Rob's Colchester Student thread, I did a little searching for other Gelbart videos.

This one caught my eye, and I think it's great that not only has he built an amazing high tech CNC machine, but also restored a 150 year old planer. A lot of people own shapers but planers are a rare project. Here it is in action:

I love it when a Plan B comes together!

What a great little machine, haven't seen a planer in action for years. Thanks for showing.

                                              Cheers David

Lovely old machine. Dan Gelbart's other videos serve as proof that he is a real sage and master of his craft....OZ.

Superb lathe  :jaw:  ...   superb machining & craftsmanship involved here     ,  I assume all the original build machining was done on another CNC set up .. would love to have a 'play' with it. which university is this machinery in, I guess in the USA?
