Removing injector seal
« on: April 30, 2015, 01:42:30 PM »
Can anyone help, I am making a puller to remove the copper seal after removing the diesel injector from my Ford Focus TDCI 1.6. This is in the form of a slide hammer,  I have made the hammer and shaft and turned  a taper on one end of the shaft, this now requires a thread to be cut on the taper (this thread will screw into the copper seal (washer) and hopefully enable me to remove the seal. My question is how do I cut a thread on the taper, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Stuart, I  quite often watch double boost, not seen this video, I turned the taper moving compound and cross slide, John's way looks easier so all I've got to do is find a drive dog and some ball bearings and the other bits, still I  like a challenge.

You may not need the seal remover.
I did the seals on our fiesta 1.4 tdci and every seal came out on the injector.
Be sure to get the capping kit from ford as well. It has all the blanks to block off the fuel pipes and cap the injectors to prevent damage.
