Camera mount screw size ?
« on: April 26, 2009, 02:01:28 AM »
Ok I'm shure you guys will know the answer to this what size is the screw fitting on the bottom of a small digital camera to screw a stand to. I've tried Metric, BA, BSF, BSW but the fit doesn't feel right and I didn't want to force it.

Stew I think the standard is 1/4"  Whitworth though I am not sure the actual thread form is always used.

Stew,

As John said, the standard is 1/4" x 20 Whit, but a 1/4" x 20 UNC will fit it as well, but may be a little tighter because of the angle difference.

I have the UNC taps or dies if you need them.

Bogs, would a UNC male be tight in a Whitworth female or would it be vice versa?

OK thanks chaps

Sorted I've got 1/4 whit die and taps. I was being gentle when I was trying them didn't want to cause damage.
