What can i do with.?!
« on: September 02, 2015, 04:11:29 PM »
This forum needs a sub section to this How do i..

Cuz im bored, waiting for packages to arrived and dug through my storage for.. well stuff..
So i have this ESAB Tigma 150A DC Welder.. Its the old box style welders on a cart.. And i have a AC/DC Tig inverter welder at 200A, and a ESAB MIG welder as well.. So i dont really need this old buzz box...

Now.. What can i do with a 150A DC Stick/TIG welder?? Any ideas? Stupid **** gets extra points..
I thought, arc furnace.. but well dont know how far that will go. I was looking into induction heaters that could handle my 150A DC welder as a power source.. but i know as much of electronics as well.. i dont know jack **** and will prob.  kill myself.

So ideas..  :poke:

I actually have a spot welder grip for it.. was the reason i bought it.. i just moved that grip to my 200A welder instead.

Was also going to suggest a Spot welding application.

As that's not going to happen what about this (google for more info)

Instead of 2 turns giving hundreds of amps at 2 or 3 volts - wind a secondary that can give say 24 v at 20+ amps.

Then with said google know how and some heavy duty capacitors, some Mosfets and copper bar (like 3 mm dia) you MAY end upwith an induction heater thingy!

OK: reality check: So far my IH project is just a consummer of expensive semi-conductors - but "wth" we are Mad Modders!
