I knew I would need an 1/8 gas blanking cap for when I removed a gas fire in my flat. This was going to be some time in the future. I found one in a box and then put it aside "safely". When I needed it 18 months later it was nowhere to be found, surprisingly. It was only when I stripped out my kitchen that I found it, on a small corner shelf on a kitchen cupboard, by the sink, and clearly on display. I must have looked at it hundreds of times whilst standing at the sink but did it register? Of course not

Ha ha, reading these posts was fun. The key words seem to be "Safe Place". In my experience a dangerous place to put anything you want to find later

In my case I bought 10 or 12 30mm diameter diamond coated cutting /grinding disks. They arrived in a nice blue plastic envelope with clear plastic front. "Don't need em just yet", says I so put them away safely.
So, I bought another lot because I couldn't find them when i did need em. Thought that I would find the first lot when putting the new arrival away. Nope, stuck the new lot on the door of my rotary tool cupboard and they are in plain view.  First lot? Still looking.

Alas the video seems too close for comfort.

I am a Seenager. (Senior teenager)

I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 60 years later.

I don't have to go to school or work.

I get an allowance every month.

I have my own pad.

I don't have a curfew.

I have a driver's license and my own car.

I have ID that gets me into bars and the wine store.  I like the wine store
best.

The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant, they
aren't scared of anything, they have been blessed to live this long, why be
scared

And I don't have acne.

Life is Good! Also, you will feel much more intelligent after reading this,
if you are a Seenager.

Brains of older people are slow because they know so much. People do not
decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because
they have more information in their brains, scientists believe this also
makes you hard of hearing as it puts pressure on your inner ear.

Much like a computer struggles as the hard drive gets full, so too, do
humans take longer to access information when their brains are full.

Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they
get there, they stand there wondering what they came for.  It is NOT a
memory problem, it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise.

SO THERE!!

I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can't remember
their names.  So, please forward this to your friends; they may be my
friends, too.

I find myself cursing under my breath and wiring things together, it prevents that "I know I have two, but can only find one" moment,  But in order to innovate..................you need junk!

I can vouch for Bob's dog Leo, he is a good hound and would not hide Bobs stuff, well apart from biscuits etc which he might 'keep safe ' for Bob in his belly
As for tools , metal etc Leo is innocent  Bob is guilty :palm:

I have noticed the Fairies hate immaculate workshops, so having sprinkled traps amongst my organised tool piles.  The stitches are being taken out next week...

Well they've had it away with my stash of V engraving cutters  :bang:

I KNOW I had some tucked away somewhere - they a 1/8" shank carbide 90 degree V cutters - individual blue plastic caps to protect them - I've a feeling that they were TiN coated . . . where the heck are they

... I suppose I'm going to have to fork out for some more, but a quick google hasn't found a supplier, never mind a fairy with full pockets  :med:

Thanks, but no 90 degree one there - been there and looked  earlier

I've ordered some Chinese ones off ebay - I wonder if the fairies or these cutters will turn up first  :ddb:

I blame multiple dimensions.

Either that or I'm losing my marbles. Now, where did I put them ??

Hi All
Quote
Does anyone else have workshop fairies?

Yup  :palm: So many things have dissapeared in my workshop its unbelievable

About 5 years ago a chrome oil tank cap rolled off the saddle of its bike onto the floor
Since then I have cleared out the entire floor area to move lathes around but the oil cap is still missing ????

Last week I went to use a piece of steel plate to make a jig so an awkward shaped bike cylinder head could be mounted on a  head machine so it could have new valve seats fitted
Now I'm positive that I  had made such a jig plate before as I know that I had prevoiusly gotten the same job done ??
No sign of the steel plate ????  I persuaded myself that I must have given it away to someone???
Off to the local scrap recyclers place and got a piece of 20mm thick ally about 200 x 350mm
There were a couple of skips full of really handy looking pieces there, but I resisted stocking up

Today as I was cleaning off the workbench I suddenly realised that I had used the steel plate to add load area underneath the "new" vice I got a while ago

They strike again.

Some time back I bought front wheel  bearings for my car as the old ones were starting to whine a bit.

The whining has developed into a steady drone. Quite frightening.

So, today being dry and not too cold I decided to change at least one side.

And I can't find the bearings.

Just spent two hours looking in my sheds.

I know they are in there somewhere.

But, as the consequences of a front wheel bearing collapse can be catastrophic I am going to have to go by some more, at £20 each.

And I know that as soon as I get beck home with the new ones the first lot will appear in a place I have already looked.

Damned gremlings.

Dave.
