Kilobots: Robotics for pennies and a good cause
« on: February 09, 2016, 02:30:37 PM »
My girlfriend works at the University of Bristol and a few nights ago I attended a lecture at the uni about their research into self organising robots. The robots are so cute I want them all! The Kilobots are little vibration motivated tripods whose sole purpose is to organise into shapes by communicating with their "peers"

The algorithms could use some tweaking to be more efficient but the applications are quite impressive. One of them is to study the mobility of cells in the body to counter diseases and other nasties.
