I used to burn out the things way back. Probably in the 1950's or early 60's.

As far as I recall 'replacements' were a complete cartridge but minus the fan.  I got mine from Tyne Tees Power Tool Co in Heaton Road in Byker. The place is still there! All that we did was to prise off the fan, put it on the new cartridge and put it all back-- to burn out again!.

I suppose the prising off was done with nothing more than a couple of screwdrivers- in the back shop.

Thanks for the memory

Norman

In a word NO......

I had some 10 mm flat bar delivered today, so should make some progress...I need to make something like 5 new fans....
I've now got a bit of a collection of Stanley Bridges drills dating from the very early 60's thru' to mid - 70's....a total of around 15-17 drills.....its become a bit of an obsession really....

Thanks Rob, had a great time at the pictures on the Wednesday....( I dont kiss and tell....)

So, abandoned the idea of making a new fan from ally, coz it hurt my cutters too much....
So after Andrew's comments about a printed version,......hang on a minute....I got some acrylic sheet somewhere....

Well after an hour I got this made.....

I'm not sure about its durability, will it survive spinning at 4-5000 rpm?
Who knows....?
