Rob

I did once have Tundra green Mini van, and several more inspiringly coloured Mini pick-ups over the years.

Anyway,I've found the Land Rover Marine blue and the Massey grey paint now,so I shall make amends.....OZ

Doesn't the load exceed the rating for that jib position by a very significant amount? When I lifted a lathe that was a little over the rated load for that jib position on a two tonne hoist it didn't look happy at all and it kept trying to tip forwards. I am impressed if you managed that with just one helper.

It does by a couple of hundred Kg's , but it lifted it with ease .

If it was trying to tip forward  then the load was incorrectly slung , load centre was past pivot point  (front wheel axles ) .

It just took one person to remove the mill from the van and shift it round  to the rear of my house  , ME  :coffee:

Putting weight on the pump end works great.

Putting weight on the pump end works great.

I ended up cantilevering the column for the lift. The weight of the headstock end (which arrived loaded with the heavy end at the front of the vehicle) and having to have the Z axis parallel to  the feet of the hoist  so that it could be lowered to the floor made the moving around a bit nerve wracking. I guess weights would have made that more straight forward, but I wouldn't have had anything heavy enough even if had thought of it.

Evening Chaps

Made a wee bit space in the shop today and assembled the mill  :dremel:

A good clean and the electrics to re fit is all thats needed now , the old flexible conduit (ally/paper type )  is a tad crispy critter , I have some nice new 20 mm kopex conduit with flex glands that will do the job nicely .  :zap:

I LOVE the pink shovel you've got ready for the swarf

I use the business end of a seaside sand castle spade as a mini-dustpan while cleaning swarf from my Myford ML7 - it works well.

It's not pink, though, more a sort of sand yellow.  I've also got a smaller green one, that works too.

 :offtopic:   :offtopic:   :offtopic:
And I've got a baby's bottle brush for cleaning out the Morse tapers in the ML7 head-stock and tail-stock.
Who cares what they were originally intended for as long as they're useful in my workshop!      :ddb:      :ddb:      :ddb:
Best regards,

Pete W.

A new one from Chester is £1635 or Warco £1640....

The operating envelope doesnt appear to be as good as the Eagle, but then its biggest advantage is the knee....and the table is a little smaller....

What repairs do you refer to?

The nice to haves I'd like are a 4" riser and a vfd conversion...

Well mine was a real dog ,  lets just say the parts fit where they touched  :palm:

Build quality , whats that !

Rare earth metals used lol

not one leadscrew is the same diameter

MMM there idea of a machined flat surface is not quite the same as mine

and getting two surfaces parallel ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you must be joking .

And I could go on

Hmmmmm, I had my heart set on a Warco 626 for years, but if I'm going to buy a project....      Might as well be any of the available mills these days.
