jet scooter
« on: December 20, 2016, 02:44:56 PM »
My son purchased a scooter at our local village jumble sale for £1.

On the front it has a sticker that says 'Warning: product moves when in operation.  Use common sense'

So I fitted a pulse jet to it.

I have been trialling it on propane but it is not behaving yet.  I may need to redesign the valve to let more air in.  Eventually the plan is that it will run on petrol.  Oh and my son is 7 so it will be for daddy to ride only, but he is enjoying the build :ddb:

Throw me for a loop. Saw the title and I thought "yes! a jet engine". Then I opened and saw the first picture... "darn, Jet must be a name brand". Then I got to the second picture. Rock On!!   :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Common sense is to put a jet engine on it. Right? I am not the only one who thinks that way. I know Doubleboost does too!

We need video of it going down the road.

I will post a video when I get it going properly.  So far all I have got out of it was a series of LOUD bangs which at 8:30 on a Saturday morning did not go down well with the wife!

Like the idea Andrew, but where will the fuel sit. Also probably need heat protection for your feet. Personally I prefer to sit in jets! :nrocks:

Exactly what I was thinking too. Otherwise, it might turn out to be a mobile BBQ also.

I recall a Corporal Henwood who was in the Royal Air Force making a pulse jet long before this.  I was at school and guess that it was about 1945 or 46. I saw a captured V1around that time.

The article was definitely in the Aeromodeller and I made one up.  I recall that it had a reheat of sorts and it was not until I was also a corporal myself in 1949 that I saw reheats on Meteor 8's at Farnborough Air Show.

Where did the time go since?
