Jaw protector
« on: May 07, 2017, 06:17:55 PM »
Not sure if this goes here or woodworking bit but it's aluminium so.... the idea is to protect the chuck jaws from an HSS turning tool when using a steb centre (type of ring drive centre) in the headstock. Sometimes when doing fine work close to the headstock the tool can touch a jaw which does neither any good.🙈
I made a protection plate which fits onto the Mt2 carrier and this fits into the chuck jaws shown. Thought I'd got it a bit too fine when the centre had 0.5mm tolerance between it and the plate, but it did have clearance , just.

Friends happy with it.
